₹/$Rupee Exit

Managed service · In build

The whole exit, not just the exchange rate

Selling Indian property as an NRI and moving the proceeds to the US is four separate problems that have to happen in one order. The rate is the last of them and the smallest. This is the service for the other three — and it still never touches your money.

Where this actually is

It is not purchasable today. There is no price, no Chartered Accountant partner named publicly, and no completed engagement behind it. The free rate checker on this site is finished and live; this is not, and a page that implied otherwise would undo the only thing the rest of the site has going for it.

What exists is the process above, written down, plus the guides that give away the parts you can do yourself. If your timetable is running now, write to us anyway: the useful answer may be a sequence and a deadline rather than an engagement, and that costs nothing to give.

The work

Six things, in this order

Each one is only useful if the one before it happened on time. That is the entire difficulty of a property exit, and it is why it is a coordination problem rather than a paperwork problem.
  1. 01

Establish the timetable before anything is paid. The lower-deduction certificate under §395 is only useful if it exists before the buyer deducts, and the financial-year boundary decides whether a refund is months or a year away. The timing guide is the free version of this step.

  2. 02

Assemble the document pack, once. The same documents get asked for by the CA, by the bank and by the buyer's side, usually at different times and in different formats. Collecting them once, in order, is unglamorous and is most of what goes wrong.

  3. 03

Coordinate the Chartered Accountant. The computation, the Form 128 application and the Form 146 certificate are a CA's work and stay a CA's work. Coordination means the sequence, the deadlines and the chasing — not the judgement.

  4. 04

Sequence the remittance paperwork. Form 145 is yours to file, Form 146 is the CA's to issue, and the bank will not move without the acknowledgement. Explained here, in full, for free.

  5. 05

Price the wire, and say what it costs. The caps mean a large exit is several wires, each separately quoted. Every one gets the same arithmetic the public checker does, against the published mid-market reference, in writing.

  6. 06

Hand off cleanly on the US side. What lands, when it landed, at what rate, and the paper trail that goes with it — in a form your US accountant can use without asking you to reconstruct it a year later.

The boundary

What this never becomes

Never

A money movement

We do not receive, hold, route or initiate a payment — not on the free tool and not on the paid service. You execute every wire yourself at your own bank. No state money transmitter licence, no FinCEN MSB registration, because neither applies.
Never

An accountancy practice

We do not sign returns, issue certificates or give opinions. A Chartered Accountant does that, under their own UDIN, invoiced to you directly. We supply process, timing, price and documentation.
Never

A legal practice

Nothing here is legal advice. Questions of interpretation go to an attorney or a CA, and we say which — rather than answering them in a way that sounds confident.

Questions

The ones worth asking first

Do you take the money, or move it?

No, and we never will. You wire it yourself, from your own NRO account, at your own AD Category-I bank, with your own credentials. We are not a money transmitter and we hold no funds. That constraint is what keeps this service outside money transmission, and it does not relax for a paying customer.

Do you do the Chartered Accountant's work?

No. The computation, the Form 128 application and the Form 146 certificate are signed by a practising Chartered Accountant, who invoices you directly. We do not sign, do not certify, and do not take a share of that fee — Indian professional rules bar a practising CA from sharing fees with a non-member, and we would not want the incentive in any case.

What does it cost?

There is no price yet, and we would rather say that than quote one we have not tested. When there is, it will be a fee for coordination and documentation, stated up front, with the CA's fee invoiced to you separately so you can see both.

Is this available now?

Not as a finished service. We are being explicit about that rather than taking deposits against something still being built. Write to us and you will get a straight answer about whether we can help with your timetable, including 'not yet' if that is the answer.

What do you store about me if I write to you?

The email you send, in a mailbox, like any other correspondence. The rate checker itself stores nothing at all, and a paid engagement would be a separate system with its own written terms — not something bolted onto a free tool that promises to store nothing.

Tell us the timetable, and we will tell you what is urgent

Roughly what you are moving, and whether the sale has completed. Those two facts decide whether the next thing to do is a certificate application, a document pack, or nothing at all. EthicSend LLC replies as a person, not a funnel.
